“Do Not Leave Mumbai For Next 8 To 10 Days”, BJP Directs It’s Newly Elected Mayors

Mumbai : In view of the upcoming mayoral process the newly elected BJP corporators have been asked to not leave Mumbai for next 8 to 10 days. The lottery to determine the next fortune of Mumbai’s mayor post will be held on 22 January as per the note issued by Urban Development Department at the state secretariat. The state government has commenced the process for election of mayors in Mumbai and 28 other civic bodies.

As per the BJP Leader, to form a municipal corporation the newly elected BJP corporators have been asked to not leave Mumbai for next 8 to 10 days. Also there are chances of some new developments in due course cited by the leader. Sources have confirmed they have been shifted to a hotel so that no one compels them to bribe or try to break their bond which could create trouble for the party.

So what is the process of electing a mayor in Mumbai? Once a party or alliance forms a majority in the BMC, the elected corporators unanimously decide who will hold the power pact posting of mayor. In simple terms, the process is similar to that by which the prime minister or the chief ministers of a country or a state are elected from the elected members of the respective legislature.

After the BMC election results that were declared last week, the BJP emerged victorious, securing 89 out of 227 seats pulling out the dominance of undivided Shiv Sena (before Uddhav and Shinde factions split up), which held sway in the BMC for more than 25 years.
