BMC Swings Into Action: Anti-Encroachment Drive Clears Dadar East Station Area

Mumbai: Following the conclusion of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation elections, large-scale operations to remove encroachments that had mushroomed across Mumbai are being undertaken. As part of this initiative, the civic body’s F South Ward carried out action on Friday in Dadar (East) near Dadasaheb Phalke Road and Mumbai Marathi Granth Sangralay Road.

Assistant Commissioner of the F South Ward, Vrushali Ingle, stated that on February 13, 2026, a joint team from various departments of the F/South office successfully conducted an anti-encroachment operation against hawkers, shops/establishments encroaching on roads and footpaths, as well as garbage accumulated by antisocial elements. The action primarily covered areas outside Dadar East station and the Hindmata locality.

During the operation, eviction action was taken against 35 hawkers/vendors and 12 hutments. The drive involved 15 officers/staff members, 25 workers, 02 JCB machines, and 03 dumpers, operating under tight police security arrangements provided by the local police force.

The operation resulted in clearing roads and footpaths, making them accessible for vehicles and pedestrians.
