BMC Demolition Hammer Strikes Illegal Shop and Library Structures in Ghatkopar

Mumbai: Four unauthorised shops and three libraries obstructing the footpath on Sant Dnyaneshwar Marg in Pant Nagar, Ghatkopar, were removed in an action carried out by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

The action was carried out under the guidance of Deputy Commissioner (Zone-6) Santosh Kumar Dhonde, as per instructions from Additional Municipal Commissioner (Eastern Suburbs) Dr. Avinash Dhakane. According to officials, these unauthorised shops and libraries on Sant Dnyaneshwar Road in Pant Nagar, Ghatkopar (East), were occupying the road and footpath and obstructing pedestrian movement. Accordingly, four unauthorised shops and three libraries were removed on Tuesday.

In addition, illegally constructed sheds and other structures were also demolished. As a result, the footpath in the area has been freed of encroachment, making movement easier for pedestrians.

Officers and staff from various departments under the ‘N’ Ward carried out the action. Adequate security was arranged by Ghatkopar Police Station during the operation.
