A Hydration Reminder: Maharashtra Village Uses Siren to Remind Residents to Drink Water

The initiative comes amid rising concerns over dehydration, particularly during summer months when residents engrossed in work often go long hours without drinking water.

Beyond the water reminder system, Manyachiwadi holds another distinction: it is Maharashtra’s first solar village under the state government’s Saur Gram Yojana scheme. Street lights, water pumps, CCTV systems, and school-area lighting in the village run entirely on solar energy. Residents also use solar power for their homes. The village has drawn attention on social media for both initiatives.
