Curry Leaves & Sattu Chaas For Hair Fall: Know Their Benefits, Recipe and Tips

Hair fall affects many people and can stem from factors like stress, pollution, hormonal changes and nutrient deficiencies, according to NDTV Food. While oiling, treatments and supplements are common responses, what you eat consistently plays a key role in strengthening hair from within. Nutrient‑dense foods can nourish the scalp, support healthy growth and help reduce excessive shedding. One such option gaining attention is a simple chaas prepared with curry leaves and sattu.

Why Curry Leaves Matter

Curry leaves are rich in antioxidants like vitamins C and A, flavonoids and carotenoids that help protect hair follicles from damage, NDTV Food explains. These leaves are traditionally linked with delaying premature greying, strengthening hair roots, encouraging regrowth and improving overall scalp condition.

Sattu Adds Nutritional Punch

Sattu, made from roasted Bengal gram, is high in plant‑based protein, iron and magnesium, all of which are important for maintaining healthy hair, according to the report. Its fibre supports digestion, aiding nutrient absorption, while a low glycaemic index can help keep hormonal fluctuations a common cause of hair fall more balanced.

Simple Chaas Recipe for Hair Health

Nutritionist Shalini Sudhakar shared a quick recipe for this hair‑friendly drink with NDTV Food. Blend 200 ml of curd‑based chaas with about 20 fresh curry leaves, a teaspoon of chana sattu and salt to taste. Drink the mixture immediately without straining to retain fibre and nutrients.

Daily Routine and Precautions

Sudhakar recommends having this chaas daily ideally for at least 30 days  to potentially see benefits. She also notes some individuals may be sensitive to dairy or find sattu heating for the body, so personal tolerance should be considered.
