The United States and Iran exchanged fresh attacks for a second consecutive day as tensions escalated across the Middle East, with Jordan intercepting eight Iranian missiles and US strikes reportedly hitting multiple sites inside Iran.
Jordan’s armed forces said its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed eight missiles launched from Iran on Thursday. Military officials said debris from the interceptions fell across several areas, but no casualties or property damage were reported.
A military source at the General Command of the Jordanian Armed Forces-Arab Army said the country’s forces remain on the highest level of alert and continue to monitor regional developments to safeguard Jordanian airspace.
Meanwhile, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed it had established control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important oil shipping routes.
Iran Says US Strikes Targeted Bushehr Nuclear Plant Area
Iranian state media reported that US strikes targeted the Bushehr nuclear plant area on Thursday afternoon, although the US military has not confirmed the claim.
Ehsan Jahanian, deputy governor of Bushehr province, said the perimeter of the nuclear facility was struck by a projectile allegedly fired by US forces.
According to Iranian officials, the attacks also hit a military base in Choghadak and fishing piers in the southern part of Bushehr province. There were no immediate reports of fatalities or direct damage to the core nuclear facility.
Railway Bridge and Port Control Tower Damaged
Visuals aired by Iranian state media showed significant damage to railway bridges in the northern city of Aqqala and to a maritime control tower at Chabahar Port in southeastern Iran.
Iran’s Mehr News Agency reported that Tehran had launched another wave of attacks on US targets.
Footage showed extensive structural damage, impact craters and scattered debris at the Agh Tekkeh Khan railway bridge in Golestan province. Separate reports by Al Jazeera indicated that strikes also severely damaged a maritime traffic control tower and two marine piers.
170 Targets Hit, Three IRGC Members Killed
According to available reports, US forces have struck approximately 170 targets across Iran over the past two days.
Iran’s Mizan news agency reported that three members of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) were killed in the latest US strikes.

The latest wave of attacks is reported to be larger than previous exchanges, raising concerns over further escalation.
Meanwhile, the funeral procession of Iran’s late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has reached the city of Mashhad.
Amid expectations of intensified military action and the possibility of a renewed US naval blockade, Iran reportedly exported 10 million barrels of crude oil overnight after Washington revoked the 60-day sanctions waiver that had temporarily allowed the country to market its oil.
