US-Iran Peace Deal Delayed, What Next?

The much awaited US-Iran Peace Deal has been delayed, as Vice President JD Vance dropped out of plans to travel to Switzerland for the negotiation. The talks were scheduled to take place on Friday, 19th June.

“The logistics of these negotiations have never been simple or predictable,” according to an White House spokesperson. JD Vance and team were ready to travel to Switzerland before dropping out last minute, adding uncertainty to the already shaky peace post months of fighting.

The Swiss foreign ministry confirmed that no talks were going to take place, originally planned at the resort of Burgenstock.

There has been no immediate response from Iran. There was also no confirmation from the Iran side about it’s team travelling to Switzerland, before Vance dropped out. It remains to be seen if a new schedule is announced in the upcoming days.

Israel Not Happy With The Deal

While President Donald Trump has already signed the deal, US’ partner in the war, Israel has been very vocal about it’s displeasure with the deal. The US and Israel have had a very public falling out in the last couple of days after the former agreed to a peace deal with Iran. According to Netanyahu, signing the deal achieves no objectives for which the both countries had set out to. The peace deal gives Iran relief from sanctions, proposes a $300 Billion reconstruction fund and waiver over oil exports.
