US Citizen’s Negative Remarks To An Indian Couple Ignite The Problem Of Racism
Washington: An Indian couple faced harassment merely for being tourists in the US by a random US citizen. A video consisting of racist remarks toward the Indians by the American man is hurting the sentiments of people. The man, sitting in his car, mocks the couple and asks if they are from India. Upon their agreement, the man starts abusing them and tells them to leave America. This has ignited the problem of racism and xenophobia endured by many immigrants.
The stranger asks them which is the better country, and the husband replies, “both have both,” calmly handling the situation. The stranger irritatingly questions that if India is so good, then why are they in America. The couple responds that they are here to explore the world. Frustrated by the graceful answers, the US citizen cusses at the couple and says, “No, we don’t want you here. You have to go home. Get the f*** out of my country.” Despite such verbal anger, the couple maintained their composure throughout the conversation. The location of the incident is still pending verification.
Many social media users appreciated the couple for not escalating the scenario, while on the other hand, several users wished for a befitting reply and noted that remaining silent will encourage racism. Other people pointed out that the country itself grants visas to visitors and they travel legally, questioning the logic of such remarks made by the man.

People tagged US Secretary of State Marco Rubio while reposting the video on the Internet. During a previous visit to India, Marco commented on racism, stating that every country has people who practice racism, and also consoled that the US welcomes people from all over the world.
This video highlights emerging anti-Indian content where Indians are shamed for their identity in foreign countries. This viral video was reportedly posted by a verified account of a music producer, who is known to share such clips for mocking Indians; a previous video was taken inside a public restaurant.
It is hoped that the problem of racism will be penalized and the man will be detained so as to not repeat it ahead.
