Trump’s Christmas Eve Call With Kids Features ‘Bad Santa’ Remark And Coal Comment

President Donald Trump participated in Christmas Eve phone calls with children from his residence, a tradition tied to the NORAD Santa-tracking program that has continued for seven decades. The community outreach initiative uses volunteers to create a simulated tracking experience of Santa’s journey delivering gifts worldwide. First lady Melania Trump joined him during the calls.

Speaking with a 10-year-old inquiring about Santa’s whereabouts, Trump explained they monitor Santa’s movements globally to verify his character. “We want to make sure that he’s not infiltrated, that we’re not infiltrating into our country a bad Santa,” Trump stated, adding that they confirmed Santa is good and loves the child and Oklahoma. He praised the state for supporting him in the election and told the child to never leave Oklahoma.

During another conversation, an 8-year-old from Kansas mentioned not wanting coal as a gift. Trump, known for denying climate change and promoting mining while canceling offshore wind leases, responded by calling it “clean, beautiful coal.” He quickly walked back the comment with an apology, saying he “had to do that.”

Trump reiterated his stance, asking the child to remember coal as “clean and beautiful” but acknowledged the child’s preference against receiving it. The child confirmed they did not want coal.

Despite appearing cheerful during the calls and saying he could continue all day, Trump noted he had urgent matters requiring attention, specifically referencing efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict. He later shared a Truth Social post wishing “Merry Christmas to all, including the Radical Left Scum.”
