On Monday, US President Donald Trump declared that the US is “taking over” the Strait of Hormuz. Iran declared the same waterway closed in a statement a few minutes later, citing recent US military activity.
Trump declared in an interview with “Fox & Friends” that “we’re taking over the strait.” They have nothing. He maintained that the US ought to have dealt with Iran’s threat “47 years ago.”
“We’re going to keep the strait, and we’ll probably run it,” Trump said after Iranian leaders participated in an 11-hour session of talks with the US, during which “everything was agreed to” until Iran started requesting revisions. We will take on the role of protectors of the waterway. We might refer to it as the strait’s guardian angel. And we ought to get paid back for that,” he stated.
Trump claimed that up until now, the US had essentially been protecting the strait “for nothing,” but that this would change going forward, with affluent countries expected to cover the cost of the agreement.
“We will be compensated for protecting it. a large sum of money, but we simply want to be compensated for all of this and for endangering our people,” he stated.
Trump claimed that Iran was having its “a** kicked” in the war with the United States in the same interview. He listed Iranian leaders he said were slain in the conflict and asserted that Iran’s air force, navy, and missile capabilities had been all but destroyed.
Following his announcement over the weekend that a truce with Iran was “over,” Trump claimed that US strikes on Iranian targets continued through Monday.
Iran was presenting a counterclaim at the time of Trump’s remarks. Due to what it said as recent unfriendly acts by US warships, Iran’s Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) declared on X that it believed the Strait of Hormuz was closed.
Passage via the Strait of Hormuz is currently impossible due to recent aggressive activities by US military. According to the PGSA, “all applications will be reviewed in accordance with the scheduled timeline and the permitting process will resume as soon as stability and calm are restored.”
“Remember that our website is the only way to obtain a passage permit,” the authorities continued. Follow our account on X for the most recent information. I appreciate your cooperation and patience.
