Trump Posts ‘The Storm Is Coming’ Amid Rising Iran Tensions, US Reportedly Prepares Strike Plans

US President Donald Trump has sparked fresh speculation with a cryptic post on Truth Social, as reports indicate that Washington and Tehran remain far from a ceasefire agreement.

Trump shared an AI-generated image of himself alongside the text: “THE STORM IS COMING. NOTHING CAN STOP WHAT IS COMING.” The post drew comparisons to the ominous phrase from the popular television series Game of Thrones, in which the words “Winter is coming” signal an approaching threat in the fictional world crafted by author George R.R. Martin. No official confirmation has emerged that the series inspired the post, and no direct link has been established between the message and any specific policy decision or military action. Interpretations remain speculative.

The timing, however, has drawn attention. According to a report by Axios, the US Central Command has developed plans for a “short and powerful” wave of strikes on Iran, potentially targeting key infrastructure. The report added that Trump is expected to receive a briefing from CENTCOM chief Brad Cooper on Thursday regarding possible military options.

The development comes as the United States continues to apply pressure on Tehran. Trump has reportedly refused to lift a naval blockade until Iran agrees to terms addressing Washington’s concerns over its nuclear programme. The American president had previously rejected an Iranian proposal that included ending hostilities, reopening the Strait of Hormuz, and postponing nuclear deal discussions.

Separately, The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump has directed national security officials to prepare for a prolonged blockade of Iranian ports, aimed at forcing concessions on Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
