Trump Calls On China, France, Japan, South Korea and UK To Deploy Warships As Strait Of Hormuz Crisis Deepens

President Donald Trump on Saturday urged several major world powers to send naval vessels to the Strait of Hormuz, asserting that multiple countries stand ready to join the United States in keeping the critical waterway open for international shipping.

“Many countries, those who are affected by Iran’s attempted closure of the Hormuz Strait will be sending warships in conjunction with the United States of America,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.

Despite claiming that American forces had dismantled Iran’s military capacity entirely, Trump acknowledged the threat was far from over. “We have already destroyed 100% of Iran’s military capability, but it’s easy for them to send a drone or two, drop a mine, or deliver a close-range missile somewhere along or in this Waterway, no matter how badly defeated they are,” he said.

In an unusual direct appeal, Trump named specific nations — China, France, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom — calling on them to deploy ships to the region. “Hopefully China, France, Japan, South Korea and the UK and others, that are affected by this artificial constraint, will send ships to the area so that the Hormuz will no longer be a threat by a nation that has totally decapitated,” he said.

The remarks come as the West Asia conflict entered its 15th day. The current escalation traces back to joint US-Israeli strikes launched on February 28, which targeted Iran’s top leadership and resulted in the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on the opening day of the military campaign. Iran responded with waves of missile and drone attacks on US bases across the region and announced the effective closure of the Strait of Hormuz a chokepoint through which nearly 20 per cent of global oil supplies pass. The closure sent energy markets into a sharp spiral, with crude oil prices crossing $100 per barrel.

Facing intensifying pressure over surging oil prices, Trump on Friday ordered large-scale strikes on Kharag Island, Iran’s principal oil export hub, in a move aimed at forcing Tehran to reopen the strait.

The president reiterated his warning on Saturday, stating that “the United States will be bombing hell out of the shoreline and continually shooting Iranian boats and ships out of the water, one way or another, we will soon get Hormuz Strait, Open, Safe and Free.”
