Tragic Boat Capsizing in China Claims Lives, Injures Dozens

BEIJING: A devastating incident in southwestern China left nine people dead and 70 hospitalized after fierce winds caused passenger boats to overturn on a river in Qianxi city, Guizhou province, according to state media. The accident occurred on Sunday afternoon, affecting 84 tourists at a scenic location, as reported by state broadcaster CCTV.

By Monday morning, rescue operations confirmed the fatalities, with 70 individuals receiving medical treatment and four escaping unharmed, state media noted. The tragedy unfolded when strong gusts struck the boats, sending passengers into the water. Xinhua News Agency released images showing rescuers conducting search and rescue efforts at the site.
