A football ground 1,150 feet in the sky! Hard to believe, right? But it may soon become reality in Saudi Arabia.

Riyadh: If someone told you that footballers would play FIFA World Cup matches on a field built 350 meters (1,150 feet) above the ground, you probably wouldn’t believe it. Yet according to several reports, this is exactly what’s about to happen. Saudi Arabia is planning to construct a “Sky Stadium” at that height.

FIFA World Cup 2034 to be held in Saudi Arabia

The 2034 FIFA World Cup will take place in the Middle Eastern nation of Saudi Arabia, and preparations are already underway. Construction of this extraordinary and world-unique stadium will begin in 2027 and is expected to be completed within five years (by 2032). A total of 11 venues have been finalized for the Saudi World Cup matches, and the Sky Stadium will be one of them.

₹88 billion project for 46,000 spectators

Located in Neom City, the ambitious Sky Stadium will accommodate 46,000 spectators who will be able to watch World Cup matches from high above the ground. The cost of construction is estimated at 1 billion USD (approximately ₹88.25 billion).

Is this idea real or just speculation?

Details, images, and videos of the proposed Sky Stadium have gone viral across social media platforms. However, some users believe the visuals are digitally altered and don’t match official blueprints.
Sanjiv Goenka — owner of the IPL team Lucknow Super Giants and the Indian Super League team Mohun Bagan — shared his thoughts on X (formerly Twitter), linking the futuristic project to the spirit of modern innovation.

How will people reach such heights?

To reach this elevated Sky Stadium, there will be high-speed elevators and autonomous pods. The structure is being designed as one of the most advanced stadiums of the 21st century, powered entirely by renewable energy sources such as solar and wind energy.
