Samsung Co-CEO Han Jong-Hee Dies Following Cardiac Arrest

South Korea : Samsung Electronics recently reported the shocking death of its co-CEO Han Jong-hee, who died following a cardiac arrest on March 25, 2025. The 63-year-old Han was in charge of the company’s consumer electronics business and mobile units. His demise leaves Jun Young-hyun to be the sole CEO after becoming co-CEO at the latest annual shareholders assembly.
Han, who had been with Samsung for almost four decades, was instrumental in establishing the company’s TV business as a global force. His sudden death may affect Samsung’s business strategy, especially in marketing and its bid to enhance performance in the face of continued trade uncertainties and competitive pressures in the semiconductor and home appliance sectors.
Samsung has not yet announced a replacement for Han. The company is struggling with soft earnings in recent quarters after falling behind its competitors in such areas as AI chips and smartphone market share.
