Did North Korea Tests Powerful Missile Engine To Strengthen Strike Capability Against US ?

North Korea has conducted a test of a high-thrust solid-fuel engine that could significantly enhance its missile capabilities, particularly those capable of reaching the United States mainland. According to a report by Hindustan Times, citing the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), the test was personally overseen by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
State media described the development as a key step in strengthening the country’s strategic military capacity. The engine, which uses advanced carbon composite materials, reportedly generated a maximum thrust of approximately 2,500 kilotons. This marks a notable increase from a similar test conducted earlier, which recorded a lower thrust level.
As reported by Hindustan Times, the test is seen as part of North Korea’s broader effort to expand and modernise its missile arsenal, particularly intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) capable of striking the US mainland. Analysts suggest that improving engine power could enable the deployment of multiple warheads on a single missile, potentially enhancing its ability to evade missile defence systems.
The KCNA report did not specify the exact time or location of the test. However, it comes shortly after Kim Jong Un reiterated his commitment to solidifying North Korea’s status as a nuclear power. In recent remarks, he accused the United States of engaging in what he described as “state terrorism and aggression,” referencing ongoing geopolitical tensions linked to conflicts in the Middle East.
The latest test underscores Pyongyang’s continued focus on advancing its military technology despite international scrutiny and sanctions. Observers note that such developments are closely monitored by global powers, given their potential implications for regional and international security.
