No Uranium Enrichment, We Will Talk Tariff And Sanctions Relief With Iran: US President Donald Trump

New York : US President Donald Trump on Wednesday said Washington will push for a complete halt to uranium enrichment in Iran while opening talks on tariff reductions and sanctions relief. Trump asserted that the United States would “work closely with Iran” in the aftermath of the conflict, adding that key elements of a broader agreement had already been settled.
There will be no enrichment of uranium, and the United States will, working with Iran, dig up and remove all of the deeply buried nuclear ‘dust’,” Trump said, referring to remnants of Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. He also claimed that the sites remained under “exacting satellite surveillance” and that “nothing has been touched from the date of attack”, suggesting continued monitoring of Iran’s nuclear facilities.
We are, and will be, talking tariff and sanctions relief with Iran,” he said, adding that “many of the 15 points have already been agreed to,” without elaborating on the specifics of the proposed framework. Trump also warned that any country supplying military weapons to Iran would face a 50% tariff on all goods exported to the United States.
The ceasefire – an 11th-hour deal between Iran and the US – pulled Washington back from threats of a large-scale bombing campaign, but its contours remain unclear. Within hours of the announcement, missile alerts were reported across Gulf countries, including the UAE and Kuwait, while Iran reported an attack on an oil refinery. The Strait of Hormuz, through which roughly a fifth of global oil trade passes, remains one of the most contentious elements of the conflict.
Trump signalled support for economic gains from such arrangements, saying “big money will be made”, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said transit would occur under Iranian military management. Despite Trump’s assertion of “no enrichment”, the future of Iran’s nuclear programme remains unresolved. Tehran has previously enriched uranium up to 60% purity, close to weapons-grade levels, and is believed to retain stockpiles of highly enriched material.
Confusion deepened after differing versions of Iran’s ceasefire proposal surfaced, with a Farsi draft reportedly allowing continued enrichment, a claim Trump dismissed as “fraudulent”. US and Israeli officials have indicated that dismantling Iran’s nuclear and ballistic missile capabilities remains a central objective, though no verifiable roadmap has been made public.
