Minneapolis School Shooting Kills 3, 20 Hurt; FBI and Local Authorities Respond Amid Prayers for Victims

Minneapolis, Minnesota: A devastating mass shooting unfolded at a south-side school in Minneapolis, claiming at least three lives and injuring 20 others. The incident took place at Annunciation Church, which houses a grammar school, escalating concerns over gun violence in the area.

Authorities confirmed the shooter was among the deceased, having died from self-inflicted injuries. Reports indicate the individual was armed with a semi-automatic weapon, though no further details on identity were released immediately.

U.S. President Donald Trump stated he had been thoroughly updated on the Minnesota incident, noting the FBI’s presence at the scene. In a post on Truth Social, Trump wrote: “The FBI quickly responded and they are on the scene. The White House will continue to monitor this terrible situation. Please join me in praying for everyone involved!”

The City of Minneapolis shared on X that “There is no active threat to the community at this time. The shooter is contained.”

Local resident Bill Bienemann, who attends Mass at Annunciation Church and lives nearby, told the Associated Press he heard “dozens of shots” during the chaos.

Among the wounded, at least five were children treated at Children’s Minnesota, a specialized pediatric trauma center. Hennepin Healthcare, home to the state’s busiest emergency department, also reported admitting patients from the shooting.

This tragedy marks the latest in a string of gun violence incidents in Minneapolis. As reported by the Associated Press, a separate shooting outside a high school on Tuesday afternoon left one dead and six injured, followed by two fatalities in additional city shootings later that day.

FBI Director Kash Patel Reacts

FBI Director Kash Patel confirmed agents were on site, posting on X: “We are aware of reports of a shooting at a Catholic school in Minnesota. FBI agents are on scene, and we ask everyone to keep potential victims, civilians or law enforcement in harm’s way in your prayers.” He added that the FBI would share updates as more details emerge.

Governor’s Response

Minnesota Governor Tim Walz said he had been briefed and that the State Patrol was assisting. On X, he wrote: “I’ve been briefed on a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School and will continue to provide updates as we get more information. The BCA and State Patrol are on scene.” Walz continued, “I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.”
