Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar had an embarrassing moment on Saturday when he lost his footing on a ceremonial carpet while greeting Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty in Islamabad.
Dar slipped and fell as he stepped forward to welcome his counterpart before what were billed as high-level talks. The fall lasted only a few seconds. Officials nearby moved in quickly to help him up, and Dar resumed the formal proceedings shortly after. A video of the incident spread widely on social media.

Jaishankar pushes back on Pakistan’s mediation claims
India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar made his position plain at an all-party meeting. Asked about Pakistan’s alleged role in the peace process, he said: “We are not a dalal nation” — rejecting any suggestion that India would play a comparable intermediary role.
Jaishankar also noted that the US has engaged Pakistan as a channel to Iran since 1981, calling the current development nothing new.
