Iran Signals Strategic Leverage Ahead of US Talks, Rejects Negotiations Under Pressure

Iran has indicated it may adopt new military strategies as it prepares for potential peace negotiations with the United States, while firmly rejecting any dialogue conducted under threats, according to a report by Hindustan Times.

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Tehran has spent the past two weeks developing unspecified “new cards” that could be deployed if hostilities resume. His remarks underscore Iran’s intent to strengthen its position on the battlefield even as diplomatic efforts continue.

At the same time, Ghalibaf made clear that Iran would not engage in negotiations if they are conducted under coercion. He criticised the United States for what he described as attempts to impose conditions through pressure, emphasizing that such an approach would not lead to meaningful dialogue.

The statements come amid a fragile ceasefire and ongoing efforts to initiate or continue talks between the two sides. While Washington has pushed for negotiations, Tehran has signalled hesitation, stressing that its willingness to engage diplomatically does not extend to accepting terms shaped by threats.

The developments highlight rising tensions and deep mistrust between the two countries, even as mediators attempt to bring them to the negotiating table. Iran’s latest position suggests it is preparing for both diplomatic engagement and potential escalation, depending on how the situation evolves.
