Iran Strikes U.S. Bases In Kuwait And Bahrain After American Attack On Qeshm Island

Tensions between Iran and the United States escalated sharply on Wednesday after Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting U.S. military facilities in Kuwait and Bahrain, saying the operation was retaliation for recent American strikes on Qeshm Island near the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), the attacks were aimed at U.S. military assets, including facilities linked to the U.S. Fifth Fleet in Bahrain. Iranian state media said the strikes were carried out in response to what Tehran described as a U.S. attack on a communications site south of Qeshm Island and other military actions near the strategic waterway.
The United States confirmed that it had conducted what it called “self defence strikes” on military targets on Qeshm Island, including radar, drone control and command facilities. U.S. Central Command said the operation was a response to Iranian military activity, including missile launches, drone attacks and the earlier downing of an American drone.
U.S., Kuwaiti and Bahraini defence systems were activated as the Iranian missiles and drones approached. American officials said several missiles either failed during flight or were intercepted before reaching their intended targets. Bahrain and Kuwait also reported successful interceptions, and there were no immediate reports of American casualties.
The latest confrontation comes amid an already fragile regional security situation. Diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions between Washington and Tehran have stalled in recent days, while concerns continue to grow over the security of the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes. Any prolonged conflict in the area could have significant consequences for global energy markets and regional stability.
Iran has warned that any further attacks on its territory will be met with a stronger response, while the United States has said it will continue to defend its forces and interests in the Gulf. With both sides exchanging military strikes within days of each other, fears are mounting that the confrontation could expand into a wider regional conflict if diplomatic channels fail to produce a breakthrough.
