Born on February 19, 1630, at Shivneri Fort near Junnar in Pune to Jijabai and Shahji Bhonsle, he displayed remarkable leadership from an early age, establishing the Maratha kingdom in 1674, this anniversary serves as a moment to reflect on the life of a warrior whose military tactics and governance shaped an era.
Shivaji Maharaj’s contributions extended beyond the battlefield. He pioneered naval defense, building a fleet to safeguard ports and merchant vessels while boosting trade revenue, with his first naval expedition launched in 1665.
