Amit Shah to Visit Assam for Multiple Events Starting March 14th

New Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to visit Assam from March 14th to 16th, participating in a series of events, including the Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU), according to Assam government officials.

Shah’s itinerary begins in Jorhat on March 14th. On March 15th, he will inaugurate the newly upgraded Lachit Barphukan Police Academy in Dergaon. His schedule also includes a brief visit to Mizoram on the same day, before he returns to Assam for further engagements.

A key event during his Assam visit will be his attendance at the final session of the 57th Annual Conference of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) in Kokrajhar on March 16th. The ABSU conference, a four-day event, is being held from March 13th to 16th at Bodofa Fwthar area in Kokrajhar district.

This year’s ABSU conference is dedicated to the memory of Bodofa Upendra Nath Brahma, as Dotma is his birthplace. The conference will bring together policymakers, educators, and community leaders to discuss crucial topics like education, youth empowerment, and long-term regional progress.

A central theme of the conference is advancing the Mission Quality Education Movement-2030, aiming to improve educational standards and expand skills development opportunities. The Education and Youth Conclave within the conference will focus on strategies to empower students and young professionals. Experts will also analyze the impact of the National Education Policy 2020 (NEP 2020) on education in the region.

Dipen Boro, President of ABSU, emphasized the significance of the conference, describing it as “a step toward progress” that will foster collaboration and drive positive change through shared ideas. He highlighted the link between education and empowerment, envisioning a future with wider access to opportunities for all. Boro stated the event is “a platform for collaboration” to ensure that the insights from students, professionals, and policymakers lead to lasting outcomes.

Beyond discussions and seminars, the four-day conference will also feature a variety of activities, including sports competitions, literary contests, a cultural evening, and an exhibition and book fair showcasing Bodo culture and heritage. Several key venues, named in honor of respected figures, will also be inaugurated during the event. The official statement underscored the conference’s role in bridging the gap between “aspiration and action,” suggesting that it will be a catalyst for turning ideas into initiatives and commitments into tangible results for the community.
