Apple has launched a new leasing program in the United States, allowing customers to lease iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other devices instead of purchasing them outright. The initiative follows recent price increases of $100 to $500 on several iPad and Mac models.
Under the plan, Apple Watches and iPhones are available for 12- or 24-month leases. Macs and iPads carry longer terms of 24 or 36 months. The lowest-cost iPhone lease starts at $17.99 per month.
At the end of a lease term, customers can pay off the remaining balance to keep the device, return it and exit the program, or upgrade to a newer model by starting a fresh lease. Those choosing to purchase pay only the difference, with the overall cost not exceeding the original list price.
Eligible products include the iPhone 17 series, iPhone Air, Apple Watch Series 11, Apple Watch Ultra 3, MacBook Air, MacBook Pro, iMac, Mac Studio, iPad Air, iPad Pro, and iPad Mini. Lower-priced options such as the iPhone 16, base iPad, MacBook Neo, and Apple Watch SE are excluded.
The program expands on and replaces Apple’s earlier iPhone Upgrade Program, which previously allowed customers to trade in devices after 12 monthly payments. The updated version extends similar flexibility across a wider range of hardware.
The launch comes ahead of Apple’s expected smartphone announcement in September. The company is anticipated to introduce a higher-priced model and its first foldable iPhone.
A soft credit check is required to qualify. The offering provides greater flexibility for users seeking access to newer devices without full upfront payment, particularly as product prices have risen.
This shift reflects Apple’s effort to adapt its sales approach amid changing market conditions and higher hardware costs, giving US customers more ways to obtain current models.
