Anxiety Builds Inside Meta As Employees Wait for May 20 Layoffs

Mumbai : With another round of layoffs expected at Meta on May 20, employees say tension inside the company has been building for weeks. Many workers are still unsure whether their teams will be affected, and that uncertainty has started to show across the workplace.

According to reports and employee discussions online, morale inside Meta has dropped sharply in recent months. Some workers have described it as the lowest they have seen in years, especially after repeated restructuring, internal team changes, and growing pressure around AI focused work.

The layoffs are expected even as Meta continues to report strong earnings, something that has added to frustration among employees. Several workers reportedly feel the company is pushing harder toward efficiency and automation while people inside the organisation are left dealing with constant instability.

In recent weeks, conversations across internal groups have reportedly shifted away from long term projects and toward job security. Employees say many teams have been distracted by rumours, uncertainty, and concerns about what could happen after May 20.

Meta has defended the restructuring as part of its long term AI strategy and broader effort to streamline operations. The company has also moved thousands of employees into AI related roles in recent months.

Still, for many workers, the atmoshphere inside Meta no longer feels the same. As the layoffs date gets closer, employees say the uncertainty has created a workplace filled more with anxiety than confidence.
