Chinese Actor Yu Menglong Dies at 37 in Tragic Fall

Beijing, September 12, 2025 – The Chinese entertainment industry is reeling from the sudden death of actor and singer Yu Menglong, who passed away at 37 after falling from a building in Beijing on September 11. His management team confirmed the tragic news in a Weibo statement, as reported by Koreaboo, noting that authorities have ruled out any criminal involvement. “With unbearable sorrow, we announce that our beloved Menglong fell to his death on Sept 11. Police have ruled out any criminality. We hope he rests in peace and his loved ones remain strong,” the statement read.

Initial reports surfaced through a now-deleted Weibo post by a paparazzo, claiming Yu had been dining with five or six friends at a residence on September 9. Around 2 a.m. on September 11, he retired to a bedroom, locking the door. By 6 a.m., his friends discovered his body downstairs after failing to locate him. A neighbor walking their dog alerted the police, who determined the incident was not a criminal matter, though the cause remains under investigation.

Yu, born in Urumqi, Xinjiang, in 1988, launched his career in 2007 on the talent show My Show, My Style. He debuted as an actor in the 2011 short film The Little Prince and gained fame through roles in popular Chinese dramas like Go Princess Go, Eternal Love, and The Legend of White Snake. His performances earned him widespread recognition, captivating audiences across Asia.

The news triggered an outpouring of grief on social media, with fans and colleagues mourning the loss. Chinese actress Yang Mi and others shared heartfelt tributes, while fans expressed shock, one writing, “My heartfelt condolences to his family.
