13 Killed After Russia Strikes Kyiv

At least 13 people were killed and numerous others were injured when Russia launched a massive attack on Ukraine’s capital overnight and into Thursday. Loud explosions rocked Kyiv for hours.

Buildings and civilian infrastructure throughout the city were damaged by the strike using ballistic and cruise missiles as well as drones. Following the initial warnings of the attack from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and other officials, many locals sought refuge at metro stations.

According to Kyiv’s Emergency Service, 17 persons were killed in the attack. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said at least 90 more people were hurt.

advised people living in the capital to stay in shelters because of the “furious enemy attack” that is still going on.

He claimed that one of the injured in the Shevchenkivskyi neighborhood was a paramedic in very grave condition. Two five-story residential structures and a hotel were destroyed in the region, according to Ukraine’s Emergency Service.

While Ukraine’s own long-range drone campaign targeting Russian military locations and energy facilities has resulted in fuel shortages and damaged supply lines within Russia, Russia has stepped up its strikes on Kyiv in recent weeks.
