Telangana Woman Allegedly Kills Husband After Argument Over Food

A woman in Telangana’s Kamareddy district has been accused of killing her husband following a heated domestic dispute, reportedly triggered by an argument over non-vegetarian food.

The incident took place earlier this month in a rented home where the couple, Kodanda Shivaji and Lakshmi, lived with their two young daughters, aged one and two. Police officials said the family had been experiencing financial strain for several months, which had led to frequent disagreements between the couple. These disputes often revolved around money, food habits, and lifestyle concerns.

On the night of the incident, tensions escalated when Shivaji reportedly questioned Lakshmi about not preparing non-vegetarian food. What began as a verbal argument quickly turned violent. Investigators said Lakshmi allegedly picked up a machete kept inside the house and attacked her husband, striking him on the neck.

Shivaji collapsed immediately due to severe bleeding and died at the scene. Neighbours, alerted by loud arguments and cries, informed the police, who arrived shortly after and secured the area. The body was later sent for post-mortem examination.

Preliminary findings suggest that the killing was not a premeditated act but rather the result of a sudden escalation during an ongoing pattern of domestic conflict. Authorities have taken the accused woman into custody and registered a case of murder. Further investigation is underway to determine the exact sequence of events and whether any additional factors contributed to the crime.

Police officials stated that financial difficulties and repeated disputes had created a tense household environment in the months leading up to the incident. They are also examining whether the act was committed in a moment of provocation or involved prior intent.

The case highlights how unresolved domestic tensions, compounded by financial stress, can spiral into extreme violence, prompting authorities to continue their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
