The investigation into the death of actor and former model Twisha Sharma has taken a new turn, with the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) now looking into whether her husband, Samarth Singh, received help while he was allegedly evading arrest after her death.
According to officials, investigators are piecing together Samarth’s movements in the days between Twisha’s death and his eventual surrender before a court. The agency is trying to establish where he stayed, who he met, and whether friends, relatives or associates helped him avoid law enforcement during that period.
Sources said Samarth has told investigators that he remained in Bhopal for a short time before moving to Jabalpur, where he stayed until surrendering on May 22. The CBI is now verifying those claims and examining whether anyone provided him shelter, transport or other assistance.
The agency is also closely examining claims made by Samarth’s mother, retired judge Giribala Singh, regarding Twisha’s health and medical history. Investigators are expected to question doctors and review medical records to determine the accuracy of those statements and whether they have any relevance to the case.
Twisha Sharma was found dead at her matrimonial home in Bhopal on May 12, only a few months after her marriage. Her family has accused her husband and in-laws of harassing her over dowry demands and subjecting her to mental and physical abuse. These allegations led to the registration of a criminal case and sparked widespread public attention.
With the case drawing national focus, the Supreme Court later directed that the matter be investigated fairly and independently. Following those directions, the CBI took over the probe from the Madhya Pradesh Police and began a fresh examination of the evidence.
In another significant development, Giribala Singh was recently taken into custody after the Madhya Pradesh High Court rejected her anticipatory bail plea. Investigators are expected to question both accused extensively as they work to reconstruct the events leading up to Twisha’s death.
While the probe continues on multiple fronts, the focus on Samarth Singh’s time on the run could prove crucial. Investigators believe answers about who may have helped him and why could shed further light on the circumstances surrounding a case that has triggered widespread debate over dowry-related crimes and accountability.
