Deadly Boiler Blast at Power Plant Claims 14 Lives, Injures 15

At least 14 people lost their lives and 15 others sustained injuries after a powerful explosion ripped through a boiler unit at a power plant run by India’s Vedanta Ltd in the central state of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday, according to local police.
The cause of the blast remained unclear as authorities launched an initial probe into the incident.
The explosion occurred at the company’s facility in Singhitarai, located roughly 230 kilometers from the state capital of Raipur, in Sakti district.
Sakti district Superintendent of Police P. K. Thakur told Reuters that the blast appeared to have resulted from overheating in the boiler tube.
In a statement issued following the tragedy, Vedanta described the event as an “unfortunate incident” at its Singhitarai plant and confirmed that a thorough investigation was underway to determine the full details. The company stopped short of releasing any information on the number of casualties or further specifics about the explosion.
The incident has once again spotlighted safety concerns at industrial sites in the resource-rich region, though officials have yet to provide additional commentary on potential preventive measures or long-term implications.
