US Envoy Sergio Gor Visits Imphal, Meets Manipur CM

Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh met with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gor on Friday in Imphal.

Earlier in the day, Gor went to the famous women-run Khwairamband Ema Keithel and the historic Kangla Fort, which was once the political and cultural hub of the former Manipur empire.

Harsh Vardhan Shringla, a former foreign secretary, Rajya Sabha MP, and former Indian ambassador to the US, personally invited Gor to Darjeeling on Thursday.

Additionally, the US envoy visited one of the oldest tea gardens in the highlands to fully immerse himself in the rich tradition of the area.

Ambassador Gor posted a photo from the verdant plantations and remarked, “It’s wonderful to be in Darjeeling! I began my trip with one of the most recognizable customs in the area: a visit to the ancient @MakaibariTea Estate and, of course, a cup of renowned Darjeeling tea.”
