Pune : Ahead of a court hearing in the alleged murder of Pune-based realtor Ketan Agarwal, accused Siya Goyal’s brother, Sahil Goyal, on Monday raised questions over the role of Aashutosh Srivastava, alleging that he was never the family’s lawyer and may have obtained Siya’s signature “by deceit.” Sahil Goyal confirmed that the family’s trip to Bali had been planned but was ultimately called off after Ketan’s passport went missing. “Yes, the trip was finalised. But it had to be cancelled because of the passport,” he said.
Ketan’s missing passport was a crucial element of the alleged murder conspiracy. Investigators claim Siya Goyal deliberately concealed the passport ahead of the couple’s scheduled June 6 trip to Bali for a pre-wedding photoshoot, leading to the cancellation of the trip. Police believe the disappearance of the passport was a calculated move and part of a broader conspiracy that ultimately ended with Ketan’s alleged murder at Lohagad Fort on June 18.
Whatever else there is, the police will tell you in the court of law. Thank you,” he said. Siya Goyal, 20, and her alleged lover, 22-year-old Chetan Chaudhary, have been arrested for allegedly conspiring to murder Ketan Agarwal by pushing him off Lohagad Fort in Pune district. According to police, Siya told investigators that she did not want to marry Ketan but feared that calling off the wedding would bring disrepute to her family. Investigators allege that she then conspired with Chaudhary to eliminate him.
According to the investigation, Ketan Agarwal and Siya Goyal, who got engaged in February, were scheduled to travel to Bali with two others for a pre-wedding photoshoot. However, after arriving at Mumbai airport, Ketan realised his passport was missing, forcing the trip to be cancelled. Police allege that Siya had stolen and later destroyed the passport as part of a larger conspiracy to prevent the overseas trip.
Jadhav said he was later asked to search the cab after Ketan realised his passport was missing. Despite repeated searches by Jadhav, Ketan and Sahil Goyal, the passport could not be found.
On Sunday, Pune Rural Police took Siya Goyal to Lohagad Fort to recreate the alleged crime scene. Using a dummy, investigators asked her to show how Ketan was allegedly pushed off the fort. She also retraced the route she and Ketan had allegedly taken before the incident. Police said Chetan Chaudhary will also be taken to the fort separately for a similar reconstruction.
