Five projects, four railroad projects and one roadway project, were approved by the Union Cabinet today. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw told the reporters following today’s Cabinet meeting in New Delhi that the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, had approved the projects totaling Rs 13,041 crore.
According to Mr. Vaishnaw, eight districts in West Bengal, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh will be covered by four railroad multitracking projects. These projects include the fourth line from Kharagpur to Bhadrak, the fourth line from Bhadrak to Haridaspur, the third and fourth lines from Gummidipundi to Gudur, and the third and fourth lines from Cuttack to Paradeep.
This will expand the Indian Railroads network by roughly 410 kilometers. According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, the projects are expected to be finished by 2030–2031, with a total projected cost of 9,450 crore rupees.
According to Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Cabinet has also given its approval for the Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi-Sonbarsa Section of NH-22 in Bihar to be upgraded to four lanes. He stated that the 82.57-kilometer project will be developed at a total capital cost of more than 3,590 crore rupees under the Hybrid Annuity Mode.
