Ravneet Bittu Labels Rahul Gandhi as “Desh Ke Dushman” Outside Parliament Protest

New Delhi : Tensions flared outside the Indian Parliament on Wednesday when Congress leader and Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi publicly called Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu a “traitor,” prompting a sharp verbal exchange between the two senior politicians amid ongoing protests by opposition members.

The incident unfolded near the Makar Dwar entrance as protesting Congress MPs along with LoP Rahul Gandhi demonstrated against parliamentary actions earlier in the day. As Bittu walked past the group, Gandhi was heard saying, “Here is a traitor walking right by. Look at the face…” before extending his hand and remarking, “Hello brother, my traitor friend. Don’t worry, you will come back (to Congress).”

Bittu declined the gesture and responded forcefully, reportedly describing Gandhi as a “desh ke dushman” (enemy of the nation) during the brief exchange, which drew attention from fellow MPs and on‑site security personnel but did not escalate into physical confrontation.

The clash highlighted the broader political friction between the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition Congress during the ongoing Budget session of Parliament, where protests and disruptions have featured prominently. The Lok Sabha had been adjourned earlier amid heavy sloganeering by opposition members following the suspension of several lawmakers.

The altercation comes amid a backdrop of vocal criticism by Gandhi on multiple fronts, including disputes over parliamentary procedures and government policies, underscoring intensifying political tensions in New Delhi.
