Hoogly: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday offered a glimpse into his visit to Kolkata by sharing visuals from the banks of the Hooghly river, according to a report by The Times of India. The Prime Minister was seen enjoying a boat ride while also trying his hand at photography, capturing scenes of the iconic river.

During his time with the Hooghly, Modi reflected on the deep cultural and spiritual importance of the Ganga for the people of West Bengal. In a message shared on social media, he described the river as an integral part of Bengal’s identity, noting that its waters symbolize a timeless civilisation and hold a special place in the hearts of Bengalis. His remarks conveyed reverence for “Maa Ganga” and highlighted the emotional connection people share with the river.

The Prime Minister also interacted with locals, including boatmen and morning walkers along the riverfront. He appreciated the dedication and hard work of the boatmen, calling their efforts admirable. These interactions, he said, provided another opportunity to reaffirm the Centre’s commitment to the development and progress of West Bengal and its people.

In addition to sharing photographs, Modi described the experience as a memorable morning, mentioning that he was able to view prominent landmarks such as the Howrah Bridge and Vidyasagar Setu from the river. The visuals and accompanying message appeared aimed at blending cultural symbolism with a broader vision of growth and development in the state.

The visit comes at a time when political activity in West Bengal is intensifying, with ongoing election processes adding significance to the Prime Minister’s outreach in the region.
