Peddi, the much-awaited sports-action drama starring Ram Charan opposite Janhvi Kapoor, has opened to a thunderous response at the box office. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film hit theatres on June 4, 2026, and has recorded one of the strongest openings for Ram Charan in his career after RRR.
According to early trade estimates, Peddi collected approximately ₹51 crore net in India on its first day, with the Telugu version contributing the lion’s share at around ₹37 crore net. Including paid previews held on Wednesday, the film’s opening day business crossed ₹59-60 crore net in India.
Worldwide, the film is reported to have grossed over ₹100-120 crore on Day 1, making it a historic opening for the Mega Power Star. Strong performances were seen in Telugu-speaking states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana), where the film enjoyed high occupancy of over 68%. The dubbed versions in Hindi and other South Indian languages also contributed decently.
Factors Behind the Strong Start
The film benefited from massive pre-release hype, powerful music by AR Rahman, and Ram Charan’s huge fan following. Advance bookings were robust, with reports suggesting over 82 lakh tickets sold. Positive early word-of-mouth and Chiranjeevi’s public praise have further boosted its prospects.
Industry Reaction
Trade analysts have called this Ram Charan’s career-best opening in a solo film. The movie is expected to maintain strong trends over the weekend if positive reviews continue. With a reported budget of around ₹300-350 crore, Peddi will need a strong worldwide collection to recover its cost and enter the profitable zone.
As of now, Peddi has set a solid foundation and is poised for a blockbuster run if it sustains momentum in the coming days.
