
Bannu: At least 15 police personnel lost their lives and three others sustained injuries after a suicide bomber drove an explosives-filled vehicle into the Fateh Khel police checkpoint in Pakistan’s Bannu district late Saturday night, according to a report by The Express Tribune cited by ANI.
The powerful explosion completely destroyed the checkpoint and caused severe damage to nearby structures. Officials said several officers were trapped beneath the rubble after the blast. Rescue teams rushed to the scene and continued search operations overnight to locate survivors and recover bodies from the debris.

Bannu Deputy Inspector General Sajjad Khan stated that the intensity of the blast caused major destruction at the security post. Rescue personnel managed to pull three policemen alive from the collapsed building, while the injured officers were shifted for medical treatment.
According to reports, the deceased officers included Rehmat Ayaz, Sanaullah, Niaz Ali, Habib, Saadullah Jan, Kamran, Noorullah, Abid Jani, Imran, Kaleemullah, Sadiqullah, Munir Alam Khan, Rahatullah Khan and Farooq, among others. The injured personnel were identified as Mujrim Feroz, Hayatullah and Qadarullah.
Following the attack, DIG Sajjad Khan visited the District Headquarters Hospital in Bannu to assess the condition of the injured policemen and review the treatment arrangements. Authorities also intensified rescue and security operations in the area after the deadly assault.
