Kullu Experiences Heavy Traffic Instead Of Heavy Snowfall

Kullu: On the day of a shining, bright Saturday, believed to be a holiday for some officials, it became an extra rugged assignment on the road. Kullu, a hilly area near Manali, saw a heavy outbreak of traffic and stuck vehicles in parts of the narrow roads surrounded by mountains. Tourists are inclining towards hilly regions to spend their summer, and with temperatures rising this year, the visitors are left with little option but to resort to Himachal Pradesh.

According to the Shimla Police, the sudden truss was managed by the personnel, and Kullu’s Superintendent of Police stated that the flow of traffic has boomed lately, with roughly 25,000 to 27,000 vehicles entering the district in the last few days. To resolve this, there is a heavy deployment of over 150 police officers and independent staff, of which Manali constitutes 60-70 workers alone.

The Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) spoke, “Despite the peak tourist season and heavy influx of vehicles, Shimla Police has ensured smooth traffic movement without major congestion. We urge tourists to use the Shoghi-Mehli Bypass and follow traffic rules for a comfortable journey,” adding that the season is witnessing tourism at its peak with around 7.8 lakh vehicles crossing the entry point of the district. The ASP praised the traffic management and expressed his vision to control such scenarios in the future by saying, “Our primary focus has been on increasing the number of traffic riders. Based on our experience, traffic riders are highly effective because they are mobile and can respond quickly to any situation. Their deployment has significantly helped in preventing and resolving traffic congestion.”

Noting the geographical sensitivity of lanes and confined roads, it deserves appreciation for the officials who managed to clear such traffic by using strategies and planning that didn’t escalate the panic; instead, the process asked for vehicle support and a calm composure from both ends (tourists and officers).
