Police Intensify Hunt for Khan Sir as Students Rally in Support

In Patna, authorities are ramping up their search for educator and YouTuber Faizal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, following his implication in an attempted murder case linked to a shooting incident outside his coaching institute.

Two days after police registered a First Information Report (FIR) against Khan and others, officers continue their efforts to locate him. This comes as unverified classroom videos have circulated online, in which he addresses the episode and cautions his students against being swayed by surrounding narratives.

The FIR, filed on June 4 under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for attempted murder and provisions of the Arms Act, names Khan, his two security guards, and additional individuals. It stems from statements by the guards, who reportedly told investigators that Khan Sir had directed them to fire at a crowd during disturbances outside the institute in Patna’s Musallahpur area on the night of June 2, assuring them he would manage any consequences.

The two guards captured firing in widely shared videos have been sent to jail, according to Patna Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kartikeya K Sharma. Speaking on Friday, Sharma noted that further police action regarding Khan Sir would hinge on the investigation’s findings and the evidence gathered.

Police have maintained a measured public stance on the prospect of Khan’s arrest. Sources indicated that student protests outside the Khan Global Studies (KGS) premises in Musallahpur slowed initial police movements. By Friday afternoon, when officers reached the institute, Khan was no longer present and subsequently became unreachable for questioning.

Throughout Friday and Saturday, law enforcement conducted extensive vehicle checks across the district. Heightened security measures were visible at prominent sites, including the Patna Civil Court complex, where personnel were posted at all gates. Large numbers of students assembled outside the coaching institute on Friday evening, leading to additional police deployment.

Khan Sir’s legal counsel, Arvind Kumar Mouar, stated that a petition for anticipatory bail is expected to be filed by Monday. Mouar described the FIR as lodged with retaliatory motives and maintained that Khan’s name was included based only on disclosure statements from others. He asserted that his client had no involvement in the alleged incident and dismissed reports suggesting Khan planned to surrender in court.

The videos surfaced against a backdrop of speculation about Khan’s potential arrest or court appearance. Police officials have largely avoided detailed public comments on the case.
