Beggar Dies, Leaves Behind A Shocking Rs 8.4 Lakh Surprise At Home

Mandya: Nobody expected to find lakhs of rupees inside the home of a 68 year old woman who had spent years begging for a living. But after Hoor died, people who went through her belongings were stunned to find more than rs 8.4 lakh tucked away in over 30 sacks.

Hoor reportedly died on August 23 after suffering from an age related illness. Soon after her death, locals entered her rented home and began sorting through her belongings. That was when they came across sack after sack filled with coins and small currency notes.

Most of the notes were in denominations of rs 10, rs 20 and rs 50, along with thousands of coins. Counting the money reportedly took considerable time, with the total coming to around rs 8.40 lakh.

The discovery has surprised people because Hoor was known locally as a beggar. Despite living a simple life, she had apparently managed to save a substantial amount of money over the years.

Hoor had been living with her sister, who died around two years ago. Neither sister was married, according to reports. After Hoor’s death, the money was handed over to her brothers.

One of her brothers received rs 6 lakh, while the other received rs 2.40 lakh. The second brother reportedly donated his share to a mosque.

A video from the house shows people sorting through the piles of coins and currency notes. The unusual sight has since attracted attention, with many people surprised that such a large amount had been kept inside the house, much of it in the form of loose change and small notes.

There are still questions about how long Hoor had been saving the money and why she chose to keep such a large amount at home. The reports available so far do not provide clear answers to those questions.

For people who knew her simply as a woman who begged for a living, the discovery offered a very different glimpse into her life. Behind the sacks of coins and notes was a lifetime of savings money that remained hidden until after her death.

The incident has since become a talking point in Mandya, not just because of the amount involved, but because of the unexpected story behind it.
