Amritsar Rural Police has broken up an ISI-backed terror and arms smuggling network operating in Punjab, arresting two people and seizing rifles, pistols, and live ammunition. The Punjab DGP confirmed the operation.
The accused were in touch with overseas handlers through social media. Police also found the group had been actively pushing anti-India and anti-police content as part of a radicalisation drive.
Punjab’s DGP posted on X: “An FIR has been registered at PS Gharinda, Amritsar Rural. Further investigation is underway to establish forward and backward linkages and dismantle the entire network. Punjab Police remains steadfast in its zero-tolerance approach against terrorism, illegal arms trafficking and organised crime.”

The haul included one AK-47 with two magazines and 36 live rounds, and three Glock 9mm pistols.
February 22 Operation Nabs Nalagarh Blast Suspects
On February 22, Counter Intelligence Jalandhar — in a joint operation with Counter Intelligence SAS Nagar arrested two men connected to the IED blast at Nalagarh Police Station in Himachal Pradesh on January 1, 2026.
The two Mahavir, alias Kaka, and Manpreet, alias Mani, both residents of SBS Nagar, Punjab were carrying a 9mm Glock pistol and live rounds at the time of arrest.

They were acting on instructions from Gopi Nawashehria and Jassi Kulam, foreign-based operatives linked to the banned Babbar Khalsa International. The duo and their associates had received RDX-packed IEDs and hand grenades from their handlers. One of those devices was allegedly detonated at Nalagarh. Police say the investigation into the wider network is ongoing.
