The Indian Embassy in Tehran has issued a fresh security advisory on Monday, February 23, 2026, calling on all Indian nationals currently in Iran to depart the country as soon as possible using any available means of transportation, including commercial flights.
This latest guidance comes in response to the rapidly changing security environment in Iran and builds on earlier advisories from the Government of India dated January 5, 2026, and January 14, 2026. The embassy specifically addressed Indian citizens and Persons of Indian Origin (PIOs), including students, pilgrims, businesspersons, and tourists, emphasizing the need for immediate action.
The advisory reiterated key precautions: exercise utmost caution at all times, steer clear of zones involving protests or demonstrations, maintain regular communication with the Indian Embassy in Iran, and stay informed by closely following local media reports for any new developments.
Indian nationals in the country were also instructed to keep their travel and immigration documents—such as passports and identification papers—readily accessible for quick use. The embassy encouraged those requiring assistance to reach out directly to the mission.
To facilitate support, the embassy provided several emergency helpline numbers: +989128109115, +989128109109, +989128109102, and +989932179359. An official email address was also made available for queries or aid.
Additionally, the advisory urged Indian citizens residing in Iran who have not yet registered with the embassy to do so promptly via the online form on its official website. In cases where internet disruptions in Iran prevent self-registration, family members back in India were requested to complete the process on their behalf.

The embassy disseminated the notice via a post on X (formerly Twitter), underscoring its ongoing commitment to the safety and welfare of Indian nationals amid the uncertain circumstances.
This renewed call reflects heightened concerns over regional instability, with similar alerts previously prompting some Indians to return home via commercial routes. The embassy continues to monitor the situation closely and stands ready to provide necessary assistance to those affected.
