A powerful weather system is currently affecting Punjab, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh, and is gradually moving towards the Western Himalayan region, northwest plains, and adjoining central India. Winds of 65 to 70 kmph, accompanied by hailstorms, rain, thunder, and lightning, have been reported across several areas.
The simultaneous development of multiple weather systems is driving a fresh spell of rain across the country. A cyclonic circulation is forming over western Rajasthan and Haryana, alongside an active western disturbance over northern India. Moist winds from the Bay of Bengal have triggered rainfall in eastern and central India. In response, the India Meteorological Department has issued a warning covering 17 states, with wind speeds expected between 40 and 70 kmph during this period.
