Jorhat : Five personnel were killed after an Indian Air Force AN-32 transport aircraft met with an accident while landing at the airbase in Assam’s Jorhat on Saturday. The incident took place at the Indian Air Force station in Jorhat. Indian Air Force officials confirmed that five personnel lost their lives in the accident and added that a court of inquiry has been ordered to determine the cause of the crash.
According to initial reports, the aircraft caught fire after landing within the airbase premises. Firefighting teams were rushed to the spot immediately after the incident. Earlier, the IAF had said: “Today an AN-32 of IAF met with an accident. Further update will be provided once more details are available.”The Indian Air Force confirmed that five personnel onboard lost their lives in the crash. The co-pilot survived and is receiving medical treatment.
The Indian Air Force has ordered a court of inquiry to ascertain the cause of the accident. The circumstances leading to the crash remain under investigation and further details are expected once the inquiry progresses.
