Arvind Kejriwal Declares Bhagwant Mann as AAP’s CM Face for Upcoming Punjab Assembly Polls

Chandigarh: For the upcoming Punjab assembly elections, Aam Aadmi Party’s chief Arvind Kejriwal revealed the chief ministerial face as Bhagwat Mann on Friday which could be held around November.

During a roadshow, alongside Mann and senior party leaders the former Delhi CM called on party supporters and workers to ensure Bhagwat Mann as the chief minister for the second consecutive term.

While addressing a roadshow, Kejriwal said,” I have learnt that elections in Punjab would not be held in February 2027 but in November this year. So, now we should work together to elect Mann as the CM again.” However, he did not specify the source of his intel on pre-poll elections.

Earlier the election took place on February 20, 2022, where the AAP party registered  a landslide victory by securing 92 seats in the 117-member house. Bhagwat Mann took the chair of Punjab CM on March 17 and the next elections were scheduled to be held by March 16, 2027, when the current government’s 5 year tenure is about to end.

Talking about his performance, Kejriwal praised Mann’s work as one of the most honest leaders in Punjab in recent decades. He said no charges of corruption have stained him or his family members. Not even his ministers.

Kejriwal also thanked his people for AAP’s impressive performance in the civic polls held last month. On Thursday, four AAP councillors were elected mayors of the municipal corporations of Branala, Moga, Batala and Bathinda.

Addressing the crowd, the CM said the three opposition parties have entered into an unofficial alliance to oppose the AAP, but they have tasted defeat. He also said, people are accepting AAP model’s governance by giving examples of the recent results of the civic body. He said pro-people initiatives by the AAP party are working in their favours.

During the event, newly elected Bathinda mayor Padamjeet Singh Mehta was also acknowledged by senior party leaders, with his presence drawing attention alongside the top leadership.
