Heavy Rain and Gusty Winds Bring Relief to Delhi-NCR After Days of Scorching Heat

New Delhi: Heavy rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds, swept through several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) on Saturday evening, offering residents relief from the persistent spell of extreme heat.

The change in weather came after days of soaring temperatures that had left the region battling uncomfortable and scorching conditions.

IMD Had Predicted Storm Activity

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a dust storm followed by thunderstorms and strong winds was expected across the region. The weather agency had forecast wind speeds ranging between 50 and 70 kmph.

As predicted, multiple areas witnessed intense showers, lightning activity and powerful winds, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures.

Visuals emerging from different parts of Delhi-NCR captured heavy rain, flashes of lightning and strong winds sweeping through the city. The sudden downpour brought immediate relief to residents who had been enduring severe heat over the past few days.

ANI also shared visuals from APJ Abdul Kalam Road, showing rainfall across parts of the national capital as weather conditions changed dramatically during the evening.

Relief From Ongoing Heatwave Conditions

The rainfall marked a welcome break from the harsh summer conditions that had gripped Delhi-NCR. The cooler weather improved comfort levels across the region and provided respite from the intense heat that had dominated recent days.

Moneycontrol reported that the showers arrived shortly after the IMD’s forecast of stormy weather and strong winds across the national capital region.
