‘Hang Him Or Shoot Him’: Brother of Slain Youth Demands Capital Punishment Following Fatal Mumbai Local Train Altercation

Mumbai: According to a report by The Free Press Journal, the family of 22-year-old Mayank Lohar is calling for the highest level of retribution after the young man was fatally stabbed on a suburban Mumbai local train. In a deeply emotional video broadcasted across social media platforms, the victim’s elder brother, Mehul Lohar, made an urgent plea to authorities, demanding that the apprehended individual face the gallows or be neutralized in a police encounter to prevent future tragedies.

Expressing the profound grief consuming his household, Mehul shared that the family is emotionally devastated. He emphasized that executing or shooting the culprit is the only fitting justice, stating that no other family should have to endure the agony of witnessing a sibling’s life cut short.

Relatives Question Critical Security Failures on Suburban Network

The fatal incident has ignited public outrage and brought passenger safety standards back into sharp focus. The Free Press Journal noted that the victim’s sister, Megha Lohar, openly challenged the efficiency of railway security, questioning how an individual could casually board a crowded public train while armed with a knife.

She lamented that had fellow commuters intervened, her brother might have survived the ordeal. Megha firmly insisted that the railway administration and police personnel must be held answerable for the visible gaps in passenger safety surveillance.

Massive Manhunt Utilizing Over 400 Cameras Tracks Down Suspect

The suspect, identified as 30-year-old Roshan Suvarna, was successfully apprehended following a swift, intensive operation by law enforcement officers. Investigators painstakingly scrutinized visual feeds from more than 400 CCTV cameras across several transit points, including Borivali, Andheri, Mira Road, and Nalasopara stations.

Aided by technical surveillance, the police traced Suvarna to the Panvel locality in Navi Mumbai, where he was detained on June 24. Authorities confirmed that the suspect resides in Mira Road East and is employed at a cargo company dealing with barcode and QR code systems.

Dispute Over Open Train Doors Escalates to Violence

The fatal confrontation reportedly began late at night amidst heavy monsoon rainfall and heavily packed compartments. A verbal dispute quickly spiraled out of control between passengers regarding whether the train’s doors should remain open or closed during the downpour. Officials have confirmed that Suvarna remains under active interrogation and will soon be presented before a court of law.
