Dog In Lift, Fight Within Seconds: Ghaziabad Society Row Caught On CCTV

Ghaziabad: A routine lift ride at a high rise society in Ghaziabad turned into a physical confrontation between two women after a disagreement over a pet dog, with CCTV cameras capturing the altercation inside the lift. A school teacher has accused a fellow resident of hitting her with a stick and slapping her during the dispute.

The incident took place on September 12 at around 3 pm at Windsor Paradise 2 in Raj Nagar Extension, under the jurisdiction of Nandgram police station. The complainant, identified as Hina Bari, is a school teacher who lives in the society and works at a school in Indirapuram.

Police have taken cognisance of the complaint and are examining the CCTV footage and accounts of people who witnessed the incident. According to India Today, an NCR (non cognizable report) has been registered, while police have said the matter is under investigation and that the roles of both women will be examined.

What Happened Inside The Lift?

According to Bari’s complaint, she had returned home from school and entered the society’s lift area at around 3 pm. A woman identified as Shweta Sube was already inside the lift with her pet dog.

Bari alleged that Sube was not allowing another resident to enter the lift along with her and the dog. An argument reportedly followed when Bari attempted to enter.

The disagreement then escalated.

CCTV footage from the society shows the two women arguing before the confrontation turns physical. One woman can be seen using a stick during the altercation and subsequently slapping the other. The two then appear to engage in a scuffle before a security guard intervenes and separates them.

Bari has alleged that she was struck with the stick and slapped. Other reports have also carried her allegation that she was abused and threatened during the confrontation, while a Hindi media report said she alleged that her hair was pulled. These claims have not been independently established and are part of the complaint being examined by police.

Teacher Approaches Police

Following the incident, Bari approached Nandgram Police Station and submitted a written complaint seeking an FIR and legal action against Sube.

Police are examining the CCTV footage as part of the investigation. Statements from people present at the spot are also expected to help establish how the argument began and what happened during the subsequent physical confrontation.

ACP Nandgram Ziauddin Ahmed told India Today that an NCR had been registered on the basis of the complaint and that the investigation was underway. Police have indicated that the available evidence will be examined before further action is taken.

CCTV Becomes Key Evidence

The CCTV footage is central to the case because it captures the confrontation as it unfolds inside the lift. It shows a woman with a dog inside the lift, followed by the entry of the second woman and an argument between them. The confrontation then becomes physical, with the security guard eventually stepping in.

However, the footage does not by itself settle every aspect of the dispute, particularly the precise reason the argument began or the allegations made by either side. Police are therefore examining the footage along with the complaint and witness accounts.

A Familiar Flashpoint In High Rise Living

The incident has once again highlighted how disagreements over pets and the use of common facilities can become contentious in high rise residential societies.

Lifts are shared spaces, and disputes involving pets, access and society rules can quickly become personal. In this case, what reportedly began as a disagreement over entering a lift escalated into a physical confrontation that was recorded on CCTV.

For now, police investigation is continuing. The final sequence of events, responsibility for the alleged assault and any further legal action will depend on the evidence gathered by investigators.
