Farmer Trampled To Death By Elephant In Assam’s Chandranagar

Chandranagar: A farmer was killed in an elephant attack in Assam’s Chandranagar area, officials said, highlighting yet another incident of rising human-elephant conflict in the region.

According to officials, the victim came in contact with the wild elephant under circumstances that led to the fatal attack. The farmer reportedly died after being trampled by the animal. Authorities later reached the spot and began necessary procedures following the incident.

Forest department officials and local authorities are continuing to monitor the situation in the area. Incidents involving elephants entering villages and agricultural zones have become increasingly common in several parts of Assam, often resulting in damage to crops, property, and loss of human lives.

Officials have repeatedly urged residents living near forest regions to remain alert, especially during hours when elephant movement is more frequent. Human-elephant conflict has remained a major concern in Assam due to shrinking forest habitats and increasing interaction between wildlife and populated areas.
