New Delhi: The Press Information Bureau’s Fact Check unit has labelled as “fake” an AI-generated video circulating online that falsely showed External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar allegedly asking the United States to hand over handlers linked to the “Cockroach Janta Party” (CJP). According to PIB Fact Check, the clip was digitally altered using artificial intelligence tools.
The manipulated video gained traction on X and appeared to depict Jaishankar speaking alongside US Secretary of State Marco Rubio while making controversial remarks about the satirical online movement.
PIB Says Original Video Was Manipulated
PIB Fact Check clarified that the viral footage had been edited from an authentic joint press conference and did not contain any of the statements being circulated online. The agency stated that Jaishankar “did NOT make any such statement in the original video.”
According to the fact-checking unit, the fabricated clip falsely portrayed the minister accusing individuals associated with the Cockroach Janta Party of acting as proxies for Iran and Pakistan. The edited version also incorrectly suggested that India had asked US President Donald Trump to take action against the group’s alleged leadership.
PIB additionally urged social media users to report suspicious or misleading content connected to the Government of India.
What Was Seen In The Edited Video
The altered video showed Jaishankar supposedly criticising the US for allowing anti-India movements to operate from American soil. It also referenced Abhijeet Dipke, who has been linked to the viral Cockroach Janta Party movement. PIB confirmed these statements were entirely fabricated and generated using AI-based manipulation techniques.
The fake clip emerged amid rising online attention surrounding the Cockroach Janta Party, a satirical digital movement that recently gained popularity across social media platforms.

What Jaishankar Actually Said In The Original Footage
PIB shared the original, unedited version of the press conference to counter misinformation. In the authentic video, Jaishankar was speaking about India-US diplomatic engagement and his ongoing interactions with Marco Rubio.
During the actual remarks, the minister discussed regular communication between India and the United States and highlighted meetings held in Washington DC, New York and France as part of continued bilateral cooperation.
Cockroach Janta Party Continues To Draw Attention
The controversy comes as the Cockroach Janta Party continues to dominate online discussions in India. The movement, which uses satire and political commentary, recently attracted major attention among young social media users. Reports by AP and Financial Times noted that the online campaign rapidly expanded after remarks linked to unemployment and youth frustration sparked backlash on social platforms.
Separately, petitions seeking investigations into the activities of the group and alleged fake advocates connected with it have also reached the Supreme Court, according to reports by The Economic Times and Times of India.
